September.... What September

So has anyone else noticed the fact that it is now the END of September? What happened to it? This month has obviously been extremely busy as I hardly even noticed that it was coming rapidly to an end! (That combined with the fact that I am sick are sure signs). As I know but really don't want, nor like to admit I am stuck right smack in the middle of the rat race! Traffic going to work is just stupid! I heard a stat on the radio the other day that said there are 26 000 more vehicles on the road right now than there were this time last year! WHAT!!! Where did these people come from? So once again I am in search of a job closer to home! (of course that process will last about the next 2-3 weeks until I realize that I really need to stay where I am until next year!)
Over the past month and a bit we have said good-bye to two sets of our close friends as they moved away and we have taken on a new pet named luci. We figured we would start with something that only needs to be fed every two weeks before we move any closer to having kids! We have also started youth again at church every Monday night. Dan's guys are in grade twelve this year and my girls are in grade 11. I am starting to feel really old! I also got to experience my first ever MCC sale! What an array of menno food and people, I can't believe the amount of verenike that can be cooked for so many people in such a small amount of time!
Last week was also full of emotions. Dans grandma had been getting sick lately so on Sept 17 we went over to her house to see how she was doing. She wasn't well, but Dan was able to go into her room and give her a hug and tell her how much we love her. They had a short but wonderful conversation and then at 4:25am on Sept 18 she passed away. Dan was the last gandkid (out of 49) to speak to her and I am so thankful that he had the chance. On Friday Sept 22 it was Dan's 27th birthday but it was also the day of the funeral, so needless to say it was one of the hardest emotional days we have had! A few too many ups and downs. I did learn however that there is a road in Mission named after his grandparents...PENNER AVE. But with that behind us this week has been better! (minus a run in that we had with a neighbor! We will have to tell you that story in person)
All in all it's been a good month, too fast but good and now on to THANKSGIVING!!! BRING ON THE TURKEY!! And my friend Heather is coming back to town for the weekend (minus Chris which is too bad) so that will be great!

Ahhh Many a home we have lived

We had dinner last night with 8 of our friends and the conversations came up about how much Dan and I move! I personally thought we were doing really well...after all we have lived in this house for 16 whole months! Immediately I was told that I still managed to move residences within the same house. So... I didn't change my address! (apparently it doesn't count when you have to move all your belongings even if it is at the same address). This got me thinking about how many places we have lived in the past three years........ First there was the great little house out near Bradner, then we moved into the condo just down the street from the D house, (that was great, we would come home to people on our patio with the BBQ started. That was a Bob Marley summer), then we sold that and moved into the horrible little basement suite on Larch Street with no counter space cause the cupboards were too low and we had three screaming children above us! We did however last 6 months there. Then we bought Morgan Way but couldn't move in cause we had to build the basement suite so we lived at my mom's for three weeks! (I love my mom, but that was not a happy time....something about living with your mom when you are married and 25 just doesn't sit right). So then into the basement suite we went! I Love it down there.... but I need to keep moving so Dan said NO to moving to Winnipeg so at least we got to move upstairs at Morgan! I think I truly have mastered packing and purging. Anyways I am starting to feel at home upstairs and enjoy the large kitchen! We spent the night talking and eating in the kitchen because we actually all fit!

Bye Bye Two Tone Green!

YES!!! We have finally rid ourselves of the hideous two tone green kitchen! Those of you who have had the pleasure of seeing in person the true ugliness of it will be so thrilled the next time you come over! My friend Andy helped pick the colors and they look great! I feel like we live in the house of never ending renovations! I guess once we are done we will just have to move again! YA RIGHT! We also decided to paint the rest of the upstairs as well and it's also looking really good. Dan had gotten into a work mode and painted the whole upstairs in one night! Thanks Danj!
